bad hair day

i survived my whole week of orientation at that new place. my first day was general orientation. we get to meet the administration staff, missions and goals, policy and regulations and a whole bunch of paper works. lunch was on them with the manager. food was great but i had to watch my bites since i sat with the bosses. second day was more on nursing stuff. tour of the whole hospital, equipments and bunch of important paper works i need to learn how to fill up. third day was meeting more people that i'll be working with. training with them then test. my thursday was spent working on the floor with my preceptor. friday was not an ordinary day. it was a mess! the hurricane ernesto is a hurricane to remember. i left for work at 6:20am, actually a bit earlier than usual. on the way, the only way i know to work was blocked because of the flooding from all night rain. i called my sis in law to ask for another way to work. * oh yea, she works at that place as well. and gave me another option. that was barricaded by police cars. it was impossible to pass thru that way. unfamiliar with the place i tried to call my supervisor 3 times with no luck. at 7 am, i was no where close to work. i parked in a vacant parking lot and made phone calls. the wind was getting wild at that time, it was rocking my truck like a rocking chair. i was panicking! i tried calling my supervisor and the director picked up the phone. she met me during orientation and after i introduced my self over the phone she said "welcome to virginia!" she gave me directions to work but i was hoping she would just send me back home. i made it to work but the street in front of the hospital does not exist. it was part of james river. the waves were wild and wind was just blowing like crazy. well! i survived and i'm here and of course, lunch for the staff was on them once again.
